The Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Kyoto City Cultural Tourism Resources Protection Foundation will launch a crowdfunding campaign on July 2nd to support the training of successors for Kyoto's traditional events and performing arts.

<Background and Objectives>

In Kyoto, rich traditional events and performing arts, such as the three major festivals that color the seasons, Gozan Okuribi, Rokusan Nenbutsu, Nenbutsu Kyogen, and in rural areas, Matsuage and Himatsuri, have been protected and passed down by local communities.

However, due to the arrival of a declining birthrate and aging population in recent years, changes in awareness towards local community organizations, and increased maintenance costs due to rising prices, the succession to the next generation has become difficult. As a result, some events have been scaled down or regrettably canceled. In light of this situation, for the second consecutive year, we are conducting a crowdfunding campaign to provide grants to preservation societies and the like that are involved in successor training, and to create an opportunity for broad public interest.
