The Taiwan Railway Corporation stated via text message that at 9:09 a.m. today, train No. 1716 (Liujia Line) experienced a vehicle malfunction at Qianjia Station. After initial troubleshooting failed, rescue was requested, and passengers were transferred to train No. 1718. The section between North Hsinchu and Zhuzhong temporarily operated as a single-track bidirectional line on the East Main Line. Train No. 1716 between Qianjia and Liujia was suspended, and train No. 1715 between Liujia and Hsinchu was suspended.
TRA stated that the mechanical unit went to the scene for emergency repairs and enhanced station broadcasts and services for passengers. Subsequently, at 10:10 a.m., the malfunctioning train set was pulled back to North Hsinchu Station, and normal double-track operations resumed between North Hsinchu and Zhuzhong.
