US-Iran Reaches Ceasefire; Major Wall Street Indices Open Higher, Surge in Early Trading

According to Reuters, the Dow Jones Industrial Average opened up 393.7 points, or 0.85%, at 46978.17. The S&P 500 index opened sharply higher, gaining 137.5 points, or 2.08%, at 6754.36. The Nasdaq Composite index surged 803.4 points, or 3.65%, at 22821.21. According to AFP, the Dow Jones once rose 2.8% in early trading after the opening. Major Wall Street indices were up about 3% in early trading. The market expects oil and other key products to resume transportation through the Strait of Hormuz, leading to a sharp drop in crude oil prices, a strengthening of airline stocks, and a decline in oil company stock prices.
