AFP reports that Netanyahu said in a televised statement: "As you know, the two-week temporary ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran went into effect last night, and this action was taken in full coordination with Israel."
Responding to strong criticism from opposition leaders, Netanyahu replied: "No, we were not informed at the last minute." Previously, opposition figures had argued that Israel had not yet achieved its war objectives against Iran, yet a ceasefire was still in place.
Netanyahu said: "Let me be clear: we still have goals to achieve, and we will achieve them, whether through agreement or by resuming combat."
He continued: "We are ready to return to the battlefield at any critical moment, our finger is still on the trigger. This is not the end of the campaign, but a step towards achieving all our goals... Iran entered this ceasefire bruised and more weakened than ever before."
Netanyahu had listed the elimination or severe damage of Iran's nuclear program as a core objective of the war, calling it an "existential threat" to Israel. He also called for weakening Iran's ballistic missile capabilities and weakening or overthrowing the Iranian regime, seeking to reduce Tehran's regional influence by striking at the networks of its allies.
