Mother's Funeral Just Held, Son on Motorcycle Collides with Illegally U-Turning Van, Dies

Preliminary investigation revealed that a van driven by Mr. Li started from the roadside and made a U-turn, colliding with a motorcycle ridden by Mr. Zeng. The motorcyclist was sent to Taitung Mackay Hospital for emergency treatment but was later pronounced dead. The van driver's blood alcohol content was 0. The specific cause of the accident is pending further investigation.

Mr. Zeng, a resident of Zhongyong Village, Changbin Township, was traveling from Taitung City back to Zhongyong Village yesterday morning. Local residents told CNA this morning that Zeng's mother, in her 80s, was not in good health and was usually cared for by her daughter. She passed away recently, and her funeral was held yesterday morning. Zeng, who usually worked elsewhere and had little interaction with the village, was riding his mother's motorcycle around 10 AM yesterday on his way back to Zhongyong Village from Taitung City when the fatal accident occurred.

The Chenggong Precinct of the Taitung County Police Bureau stated that they can only confirm that Zeng's mother's funeral was held yesterday morning.
