The Kaohsiung branch of the National Police Agency's Aviation Police Bureau stated today that at 5:26 AM, a 31-year-old man, Mr. Lin, took advantage of a gap before the start of domestic security checks to sneak into the domestic terminal's waiting area. He then manually opened an automatic door leading to the tarmac. The man's actions immediately triggered the alarm system. The Kaohsiung International Airport Operations Safety Division immediately implemented full monitoring and notified the Aviation Police Bureau's Kaohsiung Branch and the Aviation Operations Group to commence pursuit.
Police investigation revealed that after Mr. Lin entered the tarmac, aviation police and airport staff reacted swiftly, successfully intercepting and apprehending him within the tarmac area for investigation. Upon initial examination, Mr. Lin appeared disoriented and claimed he entered the tarmac to 'visit a friend.' Police reviewed surveillance footage of Mr. Lin's route and confirmed he did not carry any dangerous items and did not damage airport facilities.
Taian Wei-jen, Director of the Aviation Police Bureau's Kaohsiung Branch, stated that Mr. Lin's unauthorized entry into the airport's restricted area will be fined according to the Civil Aviation Act. The branch will continue to conduct emergency drills with on-site units and security personnel to strengthen the notification mechanism and maintain border security.
