Fertility Rate Continues to Decline; NDC to Release Latest Population Projections in August

According to media reports, the National Development Council's latest projections are intended to adopt an ultra-low fertility rate model. After calculation, compared to the previous projection results, Taiwan may face a population halving crisis five years earlier, in 2065. The National Development Council stated that to ensure the rigor and reliability of the projection results, they are currently undergoing data collection and model adjustment. The latest projection model and results mentioned in media reports are not official information released by the National Development Council. The Ministry of the Interior is expected to release the latest population annual report in June, at which time more detailed age-specific structural data will be available.
