The Tainan City Fire Bureau received a report at 3:56 AM today that a car accident had occurred at the 0.3-kilometer mark westbound on the Anding section of National Highway 8. A passenger car rear-ended a pickup truck at the scene. The male driver of the truck, aged around 50, suffered out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) and was rushed to Tainan Municipal An-Nan Hospital, while the driver of the passenger car fled the scene.
The Shanhua Precinct of the Tainan City Police Department told CNA that the accident took place on the side lane of the Anding section of National Highway 8, near the intersection of Anji 5th Road in Annan District. The passenger car, traveling from east to west, rear-ended the truck, causing it to overturn. The truck driver died after being taken to the hospital.
Police stated that the accident scene is remote, surrounded mostly by farmland, with few surveillance cameras. When the police arrived, ambulance personnel were preparing to send the truck driver to the hospital for emergency treatment. The police are currently investigating and pursuing the suspect.
