According to Agence France-Presse and BBC News, Sharif posted on social platform X: "I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran, the United States, and their respective allies have agreed to implement an immediate ceasefire in all regions, including Lebanon, effective immediately."

Sharif expressed his relief at this development and invited representatives from all parties to come to Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, by Friday, April 10th, to "further consult and reach a final agreement to resolve all disputes."

Trump had previously issued an ultimatum demanding that Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz by 8 p.m. US Eastern Time on the 7th (8 a.m. Taipei time on the 8th), or face bombing of Iran's infrastructure.

Just 10 minutes before the deadline expired, Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif announced that the ceasefire was "immediately effective." (Compiled by Cai Jia-min) 1150408
