Zheng Liwen's China Trip: Meeting Jiangsu and Shanghai Secretaries, Recalling Koo-Wang Talks

This evening, Zheng Liwen met with Chen Jining and mentioned that Shanghai has played many key roles in cross-strait exchanges and relations, including the 'Koo-Wang Talks' which took place in Shanghai. Mr. Koo Chen-fu hoped that in addition to the '1992 Consensus', the talks could continue. Efforts for peaceful cross-strait development cannot be interrupted, and the 'Twin City Forum' between Shanghai and Taipei has been held for 16 sessions, playing a very significant function and role.

Zheng Liwen said she hopes to use this opportunity to expand and deepen various exchanges between Shanghai and Taiwan, and to continue accumulating cross-strait peace, expanding mutual goodwill and trust. Seeing young people from both sides pursuing and realizing their dreams here, she hopes 'our generation will not become their obstacle' but rather a backing, allowing them to realize their dreams in a peaceful environment.

Chen Jining stated in his speech that the two parties should actively promote cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, safeguard peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, enhance the 'kinship and well-being of compatriots on both sides, strengthen the ambition and confidence of being Chinese, and promote national reunification' on the political basis of 'adhering to the '1992 Consensus' and opposing Taiwan independence'. He also stated, 'firmly guard the common homeland of the Chinese nation, protect the fundamental interests of compatriots on both sides, and work together to create a better future for the Chinese nation'.

After concluding her visit to Nanjing's Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum this morning, Zheng Liwen met with Xin Changxing at the Jinling Hotel in Nanjing at noon, then took the high-speed rail to Shanghai to visit Meituan and the Shanghai Binjiang Industrial Park.

During her visit to Meituan, Zheng Liwen experienced drone delivery for milk tea. She then participated in a Taiwan-Shanghai youth cultural exchange event at the Shanghai Binjiang Industrial Park. After her meeting with Chen Jining this evening, her delegation will take a boat tour of the Huangpu River at night.

Zheng Liwen thanked Jiangsu for its care for Taiwanese businesses during her meeting with Xin Changxing at noon today, pointing out that the mainland just announced the '15th Five-Year Plan', and in the process of modernization and in economy and technology, she hopes both sides can work together, believing it will make a greater contribution to humanity. For future new industrial forms, if Taiwan's intellectual, industrial, and cultural circles can also participate, she believes the future will be unprecedentedly brilliant.

She said that Jiangsu's achievements are not only its thousand-year cultural heritage, but also its global leadership in the most modern fields. She looks forward to more exchanges between the two sides in the future, believing there is great room for mutual learning and cooperation. She hopes that the positive spirit of cooperation between the two sides can be further amplified, replacing negative and destructive messages. She expressed special gratitude and excitement for her first stop in Nanjing, Jiangsu, as she is full of expectations for the future.

Xin Changxing stated in his speech that the crowd was very enthusiastic when Zheng Liwen visited the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum this morning, indicating that this trip conforms to the mainstream interests of Taiwanese society for peace, development, exchange, and cooperation, meets the needs of cross-strait relations development, and aligns with the common aspirations of people on both sides.
