Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che today inspected the various hardware facilities that were officially completed on March 31, and in a media interview, affirmed that the park, through meticulous planning, has transformed idle land into a benchmark venue that combines animal welfare and human-friendly spaces. Huang Wei-che stated that the park is expected to open this year, with an initial plan to house 400 dogs and 40 cats. Starting with Xuejia as the primary core reception area, it will gradually expand to neighboring areas such as Jiangjun, Beimen, and Jiali, pragmatically alleviating local stray animal issues. In addition to housing, the park will promote sterilization and diverse adoption programs, matching factories, businesses, and families for adoption, and integrating with campus outdoor education to implement life education. Huang Wei-che emphasized that this park not only implements green energy and environmental protection concepts, reducing human-animal conflicts, but will also become a new paradigm for public animal protection education venues nationwide. The city government has also planned to promote the second phase of external road widening projects. In the future, the park can also introduce animal-themed parties, cultural and creative markets, and dessert festivals, creating a landmark new highlight for animal protection tourism. The Tainan City Government Public Works Bureau provided data indicating that the park's site was chosen by the Animal Protection Office at the original location of the Xuejia Sixth Public Cemetery, where burials had been completed. The Public Works Bureau acted as the agent for the project, investing a total of NT$403 million. After two and a half years of construction, it features a modern education center, adoption interaction area, and pet park. The overall circulation planning is divided into three major systems: animal entry, daily operation, and public adoption, effectively reducing mutual interference and noise among animals. The Public Works Bureau pointed out that the park adopts a park-like design, combining scenic trails, pet activity spaces, green landscaping, and ecological detention ponds, providing citizens with a high-quality recreational environment. The planned external road for the park, with a total length of 1466 meters and a width expanded to 12 meters, is expected to start construction in June this year and be completed by the end of August next year.
