New Season of Austronesian Music Reality Show Launched; A-Lo Leads Indigenous Musicians on a Voyage

The Austronesian music reality show 'Your Island, My Home' has officially launched its third season, 'Grand Voyage.' Musician A-Lo Kaliting Pacidal serves as the chief director, leading six groups of indigenous musicians, including Usay Kawlu, Alian AC, Kuifu Band, An Dong, Wu Jiong-en Jia-yi-fa-li-de, and žž Wei-qi, on a journey from Taiwan to three major Pacific destinations: New Zealand, the Philippines, and Hawaii. They will embark on a soul-stirring 'modern-day Age of Discovery' through music.

The program, starting from a Taiwanese perspective, connects the musical documentary journey of Austronesian families, building a long-lost cultural bridge between the Austronesian peoples of the Pacific through musical resonance. A-Lo stated in a press release, 'Just as our ancestors set sail from eastern Taiwan 4,000 years ago, scattering seeds of culture along the Pacific, nurturing such vibrant colors.' She hopes that everyone will follow in the footsteps of the musicians to reawaken the Austronesian genes deeply embedded in their blood.

In the first episode of this season, the production team ventured deep into Taitung's Malan tribe to visit Laway (Lai Jin-long), an Amis elder who has dedicated his life to protecting the ocean. As one of the few remaining traditional raft builders, Laway expressed in his tribal language during the program, 'My whole life I have guarded this sea; my ancestors, and my ancestors' ancestors, all lived on this sea.' This heartfelt confession laid the core soul for the entire season, emphasizing that for Austronesian communities, the ocean is never a barrier but a path connecting islands.

The third season of 'Your Island, My Home,' 'Grand Voyage,' will air from April 20, every Monday to Thursday at 10 PM on PTS 12. (Editor: Chang Ya-ching) April 9, 2026.
