Miaoli County Public and Private Sector Workplace Internship Program Opens for 199 Slots

The Miaoli County Government's Labor and Youth Development Department held a press conference today at the county government, where County Mayor Chung Tung-chin, along with Chang Chieh-ju, Director of the Miaoli Employment Center of the Ministry of Labor, Huang Ching-yu, Chairman of the Miaoli County Industrial Association, Hou Ti-kuang, President of National United University, Wu Chu, President of Yu Da University of Science and Technology, and Hsu Lien-pin, Mayor of Zaochiao Township, as well as representatives from agricultural and fishing associations and enterprises providing job vacancies, jointly launched the "115th Year Public and Private Sector Workplace Internship Program." Director Wang Hao-chung of the Labor and Youth Development Department pointed out that this year, the public sector, integrated by the county government and various township and city offices, offers 124 internship slots, while the private sector, provided by various enterprises and agricultural and fishing associations, offers 75 slots, totaling 199 opportunities for university and college students to gain summer work experience and internships. Online applications are now open, with public sector applications closing on April 26 and private sector applications on June 30. The internship period is from July 1 to August 31. Wang Hao-chung stated that the biggest difference this year is the integration with the technology industry, including companies like Micron Taiwan, King Yuan Electronics, and Phison Electronics, which provide professional internship opportunities, allowing interns to expand their career horizons and potentially use this as a stepping stone into the workplace. Chung Tung-chin thanked the Ministry of Labor for its funding and National United University for assisting in designing the online application system. He described everyone's first job as being like a first love, an important initial experience in exploring the workplace that could influence future career planning. He hopes that successful applicants can smoothly work while learning and learn while working, leaving a good impression of the public sector, and in the future, be willing to take civil service exams or apply their talents in social enterprises, striving for their lives. Huang Ching-yu said that in an era of declining birth rates, enterprises are eager for talent. Through internships and work-study opportunities, young students can get early exposure to public or private organizations, which helps them become familiar with and even seamlessly transition into the workplace. From an enterprise perspective, as long as Miaoli students are willing to stay in Miaoli, and returning students have more time to spend with their families, it also helps stabilize the enterprise's workforce. The Labor and Youth Development Department stated that this year, all applications are processed online. Applicants must complete online registration. Public sector interviews and selections are scheduled for May 16 at the first office building of the Miaoli County Government, with the list of successful applicants and assigned units announced by the end of May.
