Agence France-Presse reported that Israel announced today that it had launched an attack on Iran's largest petrochemical facility in Assaluyeh on the Persian Gulf coast. Local media reported multiple explosions at the scene.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the facility accounts for about 50% of Iran's national petrochemical production, with a value of "tens of billions of dollars."

The park operator later stated that the situation was "under control" and that the extent of the damage was being assessed.

The Israeli military also announced today that it had killed the commander of the Quds Force's special forces during an airstrike on Tehran yesterday.

The Quds Force is the overseas operations arm of Iran's Revolutionary Guards.

The Israeli military statement pointed out that the Israeli Air Force's airstrike on Tehran yesterday eliminated Asghar Bagheri, who had served as the commander of the Quds Force's special operations unit since 2019. He had held several senior positions in the Quds Force in recent years and had "participated in global attacks targeting Israelis and Americans."

Another Israeli airstrike today also killed a senior commander of the Revolutionary Guards. According to the Associated Press, a wave of attacks launched by Israel and the United States on Iran today killed more than 25 people.

Iran also launched drone and missile attacks on Israel, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates today. Yesterday, an Iranian missile hit a residential building in Haifa, Israel, and rescue workers said today that the bodies of four missing persons had been found in the rubble.
