Atami City has announced that the number of overnight guests for fiscal year 2025 reached 3,199,457 based on the bathing tax and 3,491,390 based on the accommodation tax. The bathing tax figure represents a 4.2% increase year-on-year and a 3.4% increase compared to FY2018, marking the highest level since FY2001. Furthermore, the accommodation tax, introduced in FY2025, reached approximately 3.49 million, exceeding the target of 3.4 million. Throughout the year, demand remained robust, outperforming the previous year in most months. According to the Japan Tourism Agency, nationwide overnight stays fell by 1.8% year-on-year; however, Atami outperformed this trend due to its accessibility from the city center and rich tourism resources. Inbound tourism, particularly from Taiwan and the U.S., is also on the rise. The city saw the addition of over 350 new guest rooms through new openings and renovations. Moving forward, the city will promote sustainable tourism management based on the 'Atami City Tourism Basic Plan 2026–2030'.
