Energy and CO2 Reduction Seminar for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises: 'Reducing Utility Costs Through Energy Efficiency'

The Osaka Decarbonization Management Support Center, based within the Osaka Prefecture Midori Foundation (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; Representative: Kazuto Minami), will co-host the 'Energy and CO2 Reduction Seminar for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises' on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and online. The event is organized in collaboration with Osaka Smart Energy Center, the Independent Administrative Institution Osaka Prefectural Institute of Environmental, Agricultural, and Forestry Sciences, and the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Speakers from the Kinki Regional Economic and Industrial Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Osaka Environmental Counselors Association, Fuji Talc Co., Ltd., and Nippon Waiko Co., Ltd. will provide clear explanations on the latest national energy-saving policies and support measures, as well as cost-reduction methods through energy audits and other initiatives, illustrated with practical case studies. Explaining the latest trends in national energy-saving policies and cost-reduction cases through energy audits!

In pursuit of carbon neutrality by 2050, decarbonization efforts are rapidly expanding. Not only large corporations but also small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are now expected to advance decarbonization. To support SMEs in Osaka Prefecture in their efforts toward decarbonization—including energy and CO2 reduction—the Osaka Decarbonization Management Support Center, in collaboration with Osaka Smart Energy Center, the Independent Administrative Institution Osaka Prefectural Institute of Environmental, Agricultural, and Forestry Sciences, and the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is hosting this seminar.

In recent years, global energy demand pressures and rising fuel prices have led to a steady increase in utility costs. Reducing energy consumption has therefore become increasingly critical for ensuring stable business operations.

By understanding your company's energy usage and inefficient operational processes, and by improving operations and introducing energy-efficient equipment, you can achieve long-term reductions in utility expenses.

This seminar will focus on 'Reducing Utility Costs Through Energy Efficiency,' providing clear explanations with practical case studies to help SMEs implement decarbonization in their own operations.

Mr. Jo Kishimoto from the Kinki Regional Economic and Industrial Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will explain government support measures for achieving energy efficiency. Mr. Yoshikazu Uda, President of the Osaka Environmental Counselors Association, and Mr. Susuhisa Nakata, Director and Head of the Decarbonization Support Division, will discuss current trends in SME decarbonization management and present energy-saving case studies.

As a real-life example from an SME in Osaka Prefecture, Mr. Kiyoshi Fujita, Factory Manager at Fuji Talc Co., Ltd.—a company engaged in the processing, manufacturing, and sales of minerals such as talc—will speak about internal changes triggered by undergoing an energy audit. Additionally, Mr. Masakazu Sugimoto, Factory Manager at Nippon Waiko Co., Ltd.—a manufacturer of aluminum alloy connecting rods used in general-purpose engines and small marine engines—will present the company's energy-saving initiatives under the theme 'Energy Efficiency Measures Even SMEs Can Implement.'
