The All Japan Information Learning Promotion Association (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) will hold the 1st "Chiba Meister Test" on Sunday, November 29, 2026. This new local certification exam is designed to comprehensively cover the history, geography, culture, tourism, agriculture, and industries of Chiba Prefecture.

The exam will be administered at universities in Chiba Prefecture and CBT (Computer-Based Testing) test centers, as well as online via IBT (Internet-Based Testing).

The objective of the test is to systematically learn about Chiba's attractions and measure participants' understanding. Against the background of regional revitalization, tourism promotion, and fostering local pride, the exam aims to deepen understanding of the region rather than serving as a mere knowledge test. It is structured to be useful for students, tourism and hospitality industry workers, local government officials, and community activists.

The exam syllabus is structured as follows:

Chapter 1: Overview of Chiba Prefecture 1. Attractions of Chiba Prefecture 2. Summary of Chiba Prefecture 3. History of Chiba Prefecture 4. Geography and Climate of Chiba Prefecture 5. Economy and Industry of Chiba Prefecture 6. Transportation Infrastructure of Chiba Prefecture 7. Road Infrastructure of Chiba Prefecture 8. Universities and Public Institutions of Chiba Prefecture

Chapter 2: Culture and Tourism of Chiba Prefecture 1. Food and Gourmet 2. Festivals and Events 3. Nature and Parks 4. Leisure and Cultural Facilities 5. Sports 6. Hot Springs (Onsen) 7. Settings of Novels, Movies, Manga, and Anime 8. Historical Figures 9. Faith, Shinto Shrines, Buddhist Temples, and Historical Heritage 10. Folktales and Legends 11. Language and Customs

Chapter 3: Municipalities of Chiba Prefecture 1. Bay Area (8 cities) 2. Higashi-Katsushika Area (7 cities) 3. Hokusou Area (12 cities and towns) 4. Kujukuri Area (8 cities and towns) 5. Minami-Boso Area (4 cities and towns) 6. Kazusa and Coastal Area (15 municipalities)

Successful examinees will be awarded a certificate of passing, an accreditation card, and an accreditation badge by the association.

In addition, an early-bird campaign is available: the first 1,000 applicants who register by August 31, 2026 (or until the limit is reached) will receive the "Chiba Meister Test Official Textbook" and the "Chiba Meister Test Q&A Pass Master" book.
