Kids Code Club (Location: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Representative Director: Maiko Ishikawa, hereinafter KCC) provides free opportunities for elementary and junior high school students with diverse backgrounds, including those whose learning opportunities are limited due to economic reasons, to acquire digital skills.

In recent years, while children's digital use has rapidly spread, a "digital divide" has been pointed out, where disparities in internet usage environments and learning opportunities arise due to household economic situations. Furthermore, disparities in digital literacy, such as the ability to properly understand and utilize information, tend to occur, and especially for children who need support, opportunities to learn safe and secure digital usage are limited.

Against this background, KCC has been engaged in "digital citizenship education" for parents and children facing economic challenges since 2023. Now, KCC will launch the "Digital Literacy Support Program for Children's Community Hubs" from July 2026, expanding the know-how cultivated within the organization to child support organizations and working collaboratively.

**■ Background of Implementation: Challenges Faced by Child Support Organizations**

In recent years, the use of digital devices in children's daily lives has expanded rapidly, and issues such as trouble on social media, friction in online communication, and problems related to game usage are becoming commonplace in child support settings.

On the other hand, in the field of child support organizations, due to constraints in personnel, time, and specialized expertise, it is difficult to continuously implement such digital literacy education. KCC's hearings revealed that most existing educational materials are designed for use in schools and require facilitation by instructors, making it difficult to utilize them smoothly in daily support activities.

**■ About the Program**

Since 2023, KCC has collaborated with 8 experts, including CSR representatives from companies, to hold over 30 online courses on digital citizenship, with approximately 900 children and their guardians participating. Valuing the development of children's ability to think and choose for themselves, the program is fundamentally structured for adults, such as guardians, and children to learn together, enabling this ability to be supported in both home and child support settings.

Course Report

The "Digital Literacy Support Program for Children's Community Hubs," to be implemented this time, is a program that provides educational materials developed based on knowledge gained from previous initiatives, in a format that can be easily utilized in child support settings. By structuring it for short implementation times and designing it not to require special expertise or advanced facilitation, it can be continuously undertaken even with limited resources. The goal is to use the materials in the field, confirm changes in children and ease of use, and improve them by reflecting feedback from the field.

▼ This program is an initiative aimed at demonstrating, improving, and disseminating educational materials, and is implemented with the support of the Japan NPO Center and TIS Inc.

**■ Recruitment of Participating Organizations**

We are recruiting organizations that empathize with the purpose of this program and are willing to collaborate on its advancement.

Any organization engaged in activities for children, such as children's cafeterias, free schools, or community support centers, can participate regardless of legal status. We especially welcome the participation of organizations that address issues such as poverty, truancy, developmental disabilities, isolation, and loneliness among children.

Implementation Period: July 1 to September 30, 2026
Number of Organizations Recruited: 3 organizations
Cooperation Honorarium: 100,000 yen per organization
Program Content: Participants are asked to implement 8 or more out of the total 15 curricula at their own pace (assuming approximately 1-2 times a week).

In addition to providing online explanation sessions in advance, a support system is available for consultation during the implementation period.

Upon request, digital educational materials such as programming and Minecraft, and online utilization support will also be provided.

Features of the educational materials: Each activity takes approximately 15 minutes and consists of short videos and simple worksheets.

They deal with familiar themes such as the internet, social media, and games, and are developed not just to teach rules, but to provide opportunities for children to pause and think, "What should I do?"

They are also characterized by their ease of use for children who have communication anxieties and in settings with limited support resources.
