Taito Ward's First 'Local Font' to be Born, Transforming the Sensitivity of Artists with Disabilities into a Social Force

FUKU・WARAI, a general incorporated association, which operates the Type-B continuous employment support workshop 'Atelier nitto,' launched a crowdfunding campaign on CAMPFIRE on May 10, 2026. The project aims to expand the expressive range of artists with disabilities and create new connections with society. The project intends to create Taito Ward's unique font, 'Taito Font (tentative name),' within fiscal year 2026. It will also launch an e-commerce site 'danran' for individual art sales and manage a photography club leading to an exhibition. The goal is to overcome the current situation where the average monthly wage at such facilities is only about 10,000-20,000 yen, and create a cycle where artists can earn money and pride. The project will utilize the 'local font' scheme, transforming drawings by artists into fonts and patterns with local designers, creating a community resource whose licensing fees are returned to the artists. The crowdfunding aims for a first goal of 3,000,000 yen, up to a maximum of 5,500,000 yen.
