The General Incorporated Association Next Generation Medicine Japan (Location: Nakanoshima, Kita-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; hereinafter referred to as "the Association") was established on May 1, 2026, and has commenced full-scale activities to create a Longevity social implementation ecosystem. The Association aims to disseminate Japan's strengths in healthy longevity to the world and to build a new ecosystem that connects medicine, life sciences, technology, and industry, centered on Longevity (healthy longevity and extension of healthspan).

Why Longevity Now?

With the rapid evolution of AI, biotechnology, and gene editing technologies, controlling aging and regenerative medicine are becoming realistic options. Coupled with accelerating aging and increased health awareness in the post-COVID era, the question of "how to continue living a healthy and fulfilling life" rather than "how long to live" has become a global challenge.

The concept of the "Longevity Economy" is already spreading in Europe and the United States, with a full-scale movement to review society as a whole, not just medicine, but also education, employment, finance, and community development. The World Economic Forum (WEF) has also positioned "Building Sustainable Societies in the Age of Longevity" as a key issue and proposed six principles, including promoting healthy aging and creating environments for multi-generational employment and learning. In terms of business, investment in "Longevity Tech" is rapidly increasing, with investment in related startups exceeding $10 billion (approximately 1.5 trillion yen) in just three years from 2022 to 2024.

Amidst this global trend, Japan has the potential to become the "largest demonstration field" for Longevity. To leverage this potential, the Association has begun its activities in conjunction with Next Generation Medicine in the United States.

Japan's Role and Current Challenges: Possessing the World's Largest Longevity Data but Lagging in Commercialization

Japan boasts the largest population of centenarians in the world, with approximately 90,000 individuals, and possesses one of the world's leading research and demonstration environments that allows for the analysis of longitudinal longevity factors from youth to old age by integrating health check-up data. Japan, an unprecedented super-aged society, has the potential to become the world's largest demonstration field for the social implementation of Longevity technologies.

On the other hand, while Japan has excellent research results and medical technologies, the social implementation of research findings, startup creation, and expansion into the global market are not yet sufficient. In the Longevity domain, the construction of an ecosystem that connects research, medicine, and industry across sectors is required. Furthermore, the startup ecosystem in the Longevity field is significantly behind compared to Europe and the United States, with low investment amounts and a low number of startups. In Japan, the increase in medical costs and the decrease in the working population are becoming more serious, making the extension of healthspan a national top priority.

While Japan has the foundation of a long-lived country and world-class research results and medical technologies, its social implementation, commercialization, and expansion into the global market are not yet sufficient.

Next Generation Medicine Japan: A Global Longevity Social Implementation Platform for Japan

The Association will operate as the official Japanese base for "Next Generation Medicine," a global community founded by Dr. Anant Vinjamoori (former CMO of Modern Age, advisor to Superpower and Midi Health), a leading figure in the Longevity field and a graduate of Harvard Medical School. This community has over 1,000 participants from more than 20 countries, including startup founders, medical researchers, and businesses. The Association will act as a hub connecting the global network with Japan, pursuing the following three missions. We aim to go beyond a mere community framework and foster a sustainable "Japanese Longevity Ecosystem." This ecosystem will promote activities centered on the following pillars:

Fostering the Longevity Community in Japan (Cross-sectoral network formation among clinicians, researchers, engineers, startups, and businesses)

Supporting the entry of overseas Longevity startups into the Japanese market

Supporting the overseas expansion of Japanese startups (international matching utilizing global networks)

Starting with a conference in October 2026, we will promote the following five activities based at Osaka's Nakanoshima Qross:

Information Dissemination: Delivering global insights on the latest Longevity trends worldwide and disseminating Japanese case studies overseas.

Educational Activities: Monthly study sessions, Longevity certification exams, e-learning, and lecturer dispatch programs.

Networking: Regular exchange meetings, theme-based matching events, and online community (LINE).

Global Collaboration: Joint international conferences (once every 1-2 years), overseas study tours (RAAD Fest, Longevity Summit, etc.).

Business Co-creation and Matching: Supporting collaboration between startups and large corporations/businesses domestically and internationally, bridging technological seeds with commercialization.

Based at Osaka's Nakanoshima Qross, the Association will build a global platform that connects the life science ecosystems of Japan and the world, promoting the creation and social implementation of the Longevity industry.
