[July 5 (Sun)] "Unzen Summer Pop-up Information Center" to be held at Shintencho Shopping Street in Fukuoka

The Unzen Tourism Association (Unzen City, Nagasaki Prefecture, hereinafter referred to as "Unzen Tourism Association") will hold a PR event "Unzen Summer Pop-up Information Center" to convey the charms of Unzen Onsen and Obama Onsen at "HiRaKu" within the Shintencho Shopping Street in Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City on July 5, 2026 (Sun). During the same period, Shintencho Shopping Street will also hold a "Shintencho Shopping Street x Unzen/Obama Onsen Campaign" featuring a "Garapon" lottery using shopping receipts.

Project 1: "Tales of Hot Springs and Hells" Pop-up Performance, First Time in Fukuoka!

"Tales of Hot Springs and Hells," where performers recount anecdotes passed down about the Unzen Jigoku (Unzen Hell), a symbol of Unzen Onsen, on the spot. This performance, previously only available at the Unzen Jigoku site, will be performed outside of Unzen for the first time in Fukuoka City.

Performances will be held four times at 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM, and 2:30 PM, each lasting approximately 30 minutes (free, no reservation required). Each session will feature different themed anecdotes such as "Monster Tales," "Pure Love Tales," and "Faith Tales," offering an experience that feels out of place in the middle of Fukuoka city, yet is chillingly enjoyable.

Project 2: Specialty Product Sales & PR Booth to Experience the "Coolness" of Unzen City in Summer

At the venue, we will sell specialty products from Unzen City that evoke a sense of coolness, distribute tourist brochures, and create a unique Unzen atmosphere that makes you feel like you're escaping the summer heat.

Products planned for sale (tentative): Ice Sorbet (R CINQ FAMILLE), Onsen Lemonade, Face Mask, Bath Salts, Somen Noodles, Unzen Tea (Nagata Seicha), Salt Jewels, etc.

Additionally, we will hold travel consultations for Unzen and Obama, where local staff will provide recommendations for your stay.

We will also be offering ice sorbet from Obama Onsen's popular shop "R CINQ FAMILLE."

Project 3: Shintencho Shopping Street x Unzen/Obama Onsen Campaign (Garapon Lottery)

With receipts of 2,000 yen (tax included) or more purchased at participating stores (all stores) in Shintencho Shopping Street between July 1, 2026 (Wed) and July 5, 2026 (Sun) (receipts can be combined), you can participate in a "Garapon" lottery (first 1,000 participants).

As grand prizes, we will offer two each of accommodation vouchers for Unzen Onsen (30,000 yen value) and Obama Onsen (30,000 yen value). Many other prizes are planned, including specialty products from Unzen City and original goods from the tourism association.

* Visitors to the "Unzen Summer Pop-up Information Center" PR booth will also receive lottery tickets with purchases, allowing them to participate in the lottery.

We have prepared a variety of prizes, including the "potatoes" that Unzen City, Nagasaki Prefecture, is proud of nationwide.

Background of the Event

Unzen Onsen has a history of being enjoyed by domestic and international travelers as a summer resort. Located at an altitude of approximately 700 meters, its climate is about 5 degrees Celsius cooler than at lower elevations, making it pleasantly cool even in summer. This event aims to expand recognition of Unzen as a "destination to visit in summer" by allowing visitors in Fukuoka to experience its "coolness" and other summer attractions.
