Overview
The Unzen Tourism Association (Unzen City, Nagasaki Prefecture) will host the 'Unzen Ryōkato – Yomiyu of Hell' event from Friday, June 26, 2026, to Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Unzen Onsen.
This event will envelop the historic 'Onsen Shrine,' located at the heart of Unzen Onsen, in a magical glow of bamboo lanterns. As a first-time event, it aims to highlight the unique charm of Unzen’s cool summer nights, encouraging overnight guests to explore the town after dark, thereby increasing circulation within the hot spring district and enhancing visitor satisfaction. The atmosphere will be enhanced with bamboo balls, paper lanterns, and large-scale art installations, creating a truly fantastical experience.

● A Cool Night, 5°C Cooler Than Lowland Areas – Only Possible in Unzen, a Summer Retreat
Located at an elevation of approximately 700 meters, Unzen offers a uniquely refreshing nighttime experience, remaining comfortably cool even in summer. Enjoy a pleasant evening breeze and a special ambiance as you stroll in your yukata after a relaxing hot spring bath.
Weekday-Only Discount for Overnight Guests
A special discounted admission price is available exclusively for overnight guests on weekdays. While the regular weekday admission for high school students and above is 1,000 yen, overnight guests can enter for just 800 yen.
Currently, overnight guests rarely leave their inns or hotels at night, leading to a lack of evening activity throughout the hot spring district. To address this, we have introduced a special discount exclusively for overnight guests.
※ No discount is available for middle school students and below, as admission is already uniform.
Preview Event for Stakeholders
Ahead of the official launch of 'Unzen Ryōkato – Yomiyu of Hell,' we will host a preview event for stakeholders.
