An Attempt to Construct a Perinatal Information Database for Grasping the Actual Situation of Low-Risk Deliveries

At the 78th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a research group led by Professor Eiji Kondo of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Graduate School of Life Science, Kumamoto University, presented on "An Attempt to Construct a Perinatal Information Database for Grasping the Actual Situation of Low-Risk Deliveries." The Japan Perinatal Care Network Promotion Council cooperated with this research. This research is a pioneering initiative aiming to clarify the actual situation by constructing a new database that integrates insurance medical information and perinatal information for "low-risk deliveries." It is considered to have significant importance for improving the quality of perinatal care and establishing a sustainable medical provision system. The following medical institutions cooperated in the implementation of this research:

Shiga Prefecture: Ukita Clinic (Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic / New Wave Co., Ltd.) Kyoto Prefecture: Adachi Hospital (City Hospital / TACK Co., Ltd.)

Data collection and analysis were conducted with the cooperation of these two facilities in total. It was shown that it is possible to construct a database integrating insurance medical information and perinatal information in facilities handling low-risk deliveries, and that it is possible to grasp a part of the actual situation of low-risk delivery facilities in Japan using this data. These results have great value as basic data that will contribute to understanding the differences in medical provision systems and facility characteristics by region, and furthermore, to the consideration of future medical policies and treatment systems. In the future, by further expanding the target facilities, more precise and comprehensive data analysis will be possible, and it is expected that the actual situation of low-risk deliveries in Japan will be further understood. As the Japan Perinatal Care Network Promotion Council, we will also contribute to improving the quality of perinatal care and realizing a safe and secure delivery environment through this initiative.
