Anime Tokyo Station, an exhibition base for Japanese anime operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Japan Animation Association, has welcomed 287,732 visitors (as of May 10, 2026) from Japan and abroad as a facility that disseminates the charm of Japanese anime to the world under the motto "Making ANIME more interesting, and ANIME forever into the future."

From Saturday, May 16, 2026, a special exhibition titled 'The Works of Tsutomu Shibayama' will be held on the first basement floor. Mr. Tsutomu Shibayama, who passed away on March 6, was active for a long time as a director and animator, working on numerous popular national works such as 'Doraemon,' 'Chibi Maruko-chan,' and 'Nintama Rantaro.' His impressive work also includes artistic pieces for 'Manga Nippon Mukashibanashi' and NHK's 'Minna no Uta,' as well as his skillful animation for 'Ganso Tensai Bakabon' and 'Dokonjo Gaeru.' Mr. Shibayama was a craftsman, an artist, and a maestro.

This exhibition will look back at Mr. Shibayama's work and legacy by displaying designs, image boards, storyboards, etc., that he drew during the animation production process, as well as illustrations he drew privately.
