We held our first webinar of the fiscal year on Saturday, May 23.
For the inaugural session, we welcomed Professor Hiroko Sawada from the University of Tsukuba, a specialist in Japanese language education. She shared her experience leading an innovative online Japanese language program for upper elementary and middle school students across Ibaraki Prefecture. This initiative involves university student supporters, school staff, and local government through the Board of Education, bringing together diverse stakeholders.
Participants showed deep interest in this nationally pioneering project. During the Q&A session, attendees raised sharp, thoughtful questions from their own perspectives—evidence of their eagerness to apply the insights to their own initiatives.
Now, we are preparing for the second installment of the series this weekend on June 21 (Sun).
The second session will feature a cross-talk titled 'Support Approaches from Early Childhood to Adulthood' with three guest speakers.

Children and young people with foreign roots have diverse backgrounds, and the type of Japanese language support they need changes with age and life stage.
