4th YOBO Expo in Osaka 2026 to be Held on July 4, Accelerating Social Implementation of Preventive Medicine

The Association for Preventive Medicine Promotion (Representative Director: Yoshiki Sagehashi, Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) will hold the '4th YOBO Expo in Osaka 2026' (https://yobolife.jp/) on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in the Umekita area of Osaka, with the aim of promoting and raising awareness of preventive medicine to prevent the onset of diseases and extend healthy life expectancy.

The theme is 'Act before you get sick. Japan will change, starting from Osaka.' As a preventive medicine conference gathering doctors, pharmacists, entrepreneurs, and healthcare businesses, it will be held across two venues: AP Innovate Osaka (Part 1) and Time Out Market Osaka (Part 2). The conference president will be Kenji Hazama (Doctor/President and CEO of Pharmedico Co., Ltd.), who advocates for pharmacist involvement in medical care and next-generation pharmacies. Speakers include Takafumi Horie, director of the Association for Preventive Medicine Promotion, and other frontline experts in the healthcare field. Concurrently, applications for speakers for the healthcare/medical field projects (healthcare pitch session) are open until Sunday, June 21.

Background of the Event: Social Implementation of 'Prevention' to Bridge the Gap Between Healthy and Average Life Expectancy

Japan's annual medical expenses exceed 48 trillion yen, and the gap between healthy life expectancy and average life expectancy is approximately 8 years for men and 12 years for women. A social shift not only towards 'treatment' after onset but also 'prevention' to avoid onset is key to controlling medical costs and extending healthy life expectancy.

In response to this social issue, the Association for Preventive Medicine Promotion has been continuously holding the experiential conference 'YOBO Expo', gathering medical professionals, government, industry, and citizens, with the aim of 'social implementation and promotion of preventive medicine'. The 1st event (September 2024, Tokyo Big Sight) saw 600 attendees, and the 3rd event (November 2025, Kitakyushu International Conference Center/co-hosted with Kitakyushu City) attracted 1,521 attendees, showing a steady rise in social interest.

The 4th event will move to 'Umekita (north side of Osaka Station)', the largest redevelopment area in Kansai, and will delve into specific business perspectives on 'how to socially implement preventive medicine'.

Three Features of the 4th YOBO Expo

1. A Speaker Lineup Crossing Different Expert Fields
Medical professionals including doctors, entrepreneurs, and healthcare businesses will discuss preventive medicine from their respective field knowledge. The conference president is Kenji Hazama, who advocates for medical participation by pharmacists and the ideal form of 'next-generation pharmacies'.

2. A Two-Part Structure of 'Conference x Lifestyle Space'
The morning features speaker sessions in the conference space of AP Innovate Osaka, while the afternoon offers an experiential program combining food and networking at 'Time Out Market Osaka', Umekita's new landmark. It is designed to complete learning and networking on the same day.

3. Cross-Industry Healthcare Pitch Session (Currently Accepting Project Applications)
Broadly accepting applications for projects in the healthcare and medical fields, regardless of for-profit/non-profit, startup/large corporation, or pre/post-launch status. Applications will be accepted until June 15.
