The Japan Management Association (JMA, Chairman: Masami Nakamura) will hold the specialized exhibition "Maintenance & Resilience 2026" from July 15 (Wed) to 17 (Fri), 2026, for three days at Tokyo Big Sight East Halls 1-3. The exhibition aims to improve productivity in the manufacturing and civil engineering/construction industries, promote sustainable social infrastructure development, and enhance resilience.

The number of exhibitors is expected to be 392 companies/780 booths (as of June 29), with an anticipated 36,000 visitors (including concurrently held exhibitions).

Japan's infrastructure is at a major turning point. With roads, bridges, tunnels, and water/sewer systems built during the period of high economic growth simultaneously reaching their peak aging, "efficient maintenance" and "smart renewal" have become top priorities for the national and local governments.

Furthermore, in an era of frequent large-scale disasters, "business continuity" measures are an urgent theme for manufacturing industries with significant capital investment and the construction industry, which is responsible for the safety of infrastructure and buildings. This exhibition will bring together the latest products, technologies, and services related to "maintenance" and "resilience," from production facilities to social infrastructure and disaster countermeasures, to disseminate information for problem-solving.

Scenes from last year

This exhibition will consist of 11 specialized shows: "Plant Maintenance Show," "Infrastructure Inspection, Maintenance & Renewal Exhibition," "Civil Engineering & Construction DX/Systems/Tools Exhibition," "No-Utility Pole Promotion Exhibition," "Transportation Infrastructure Equipment Exhibition," "International Drone Expo," "Construction Materials Exhibition," and "Disaster Prevention & Mitigation Promotion Exhibition," in addition to the newly established "Plant Operation Show," "Construction Machinery & Infrastructure Robot Exhibition," and "Construction Measurement, Survey Equipment & Data Utilization Exhibition."

The "Plant Operation Show," one of the newly established exhibitions this year, is a specialized exhibition area focusing on plant operations, which were not fully covered before, featuring products related to automation and control systems, AI/IoT utilization, energy management, and environmental technologies.

This will evolve "Maintenance & Resilience" into a comprehensive exhibition that covers the entire scope of O&M (Operation & Maintenance), not just plant maintenance.

Additionally, the "Infrastructure Inspection, Maintenance & Renewal Exhibition," now in its 20th year, has long supported the industry's development by disseminating the latest knowledge and industry trends in infrastructure maintenance through lectures and seminars, and by showcasing a wide range of the latest technologies, products, and services, acting as a bridge between industry, government, and academia. For this milestone edition, it will provide a venue for creating new businesses and fostering technological exchange, looking towards next-generation infrastructure maintenance to address evolving challenges.

Featured Lectures

From July 15 to 17, for three days, officials from relevant ministries such as the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), and the Cabinet Office, as well as university professors, will give lectures on infrastructure and drones on a rotating basis.

*Lectures and seminars require advance registration.

● July 15 (Wed) 10:20-11:00

"METI's Initiatives for Smart Safety Management"

Speaker: Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Minister's Secretariat, Industrial Safety and Security Department

● July 16 (Thu) 13:20-14:00

"Initiatives for Regional Infrastructure Group Regeneration Strategy Management (Gun-Mane)"

Speaker: Takashi Tajima, Coordinator, Planning Division, Public Works Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism

<Lecture Summary> Local governments face financial and systemic challenges, making it difficult to fully transition to preventive maintenance. This lecture will introduce the Gun-Mane initiatives promoted by MLIT, considering this background.

● July 17 (Fri) 10:20-11:00

"The Forefront of AI Implementation in MLIT's Infrastructure Sector"

Speaker: Kohei Nishigami, Deputy Director, Planning Division (Innovation), Minister's Secretariat, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism

<Lecture Summary> This lecture will introduce the background and main initiatives of MLIT's direction to thoroughly utilize AI to fulfill its mission of continuously implementing infrastructure development and maintenance for the future, and to improve productivity and reduce labor in construction sites.

Highlights of Maintenance & Resilience 2026 (Excerpts)

Beyond Drones Exhibitor: Nakakita Seisakusho International Drone Expo / Booth No.: 3-S06 https://www.nakakita-s.co.jp/ Developing robots that fly using the reciprocating motion of two wings, like insects and birds. Offering a new option, flapping flight robots, in places where drones were previously not an option. The simplified prototype has succeeded in flight demonstrations, and flight videos are now available. Furthermore, a Beyond Drones model that controls thrust separately is under development.

Spot Exhibitor: Kikan Kouzou Infrastructure Inspection, Maintenance & Renewal Exhibition / Booth No.: 3-H21 https://key-s-c.co.jp/ Ultrasonic diagnosis (air leak inspection for gas leaks). Analyzes noise in the ultrasonic range with special microphones to instantly detect minute leaks. By mounting the device on a quadruped robot, it can autonomously patrol areas that are difficult for humans to access, realizing automated and efficient inspections.

Exhibitor: OptiLaser Solutions Infrastructure Inspection, Maintenance & Renewal Exhibition / Booth No.: 3-H15 https://ult-laser.com/ Japanese-made laser cleaning equipment "ULT LASER." Industry-leading specifications! With overwhelming speed and finish, it can remove anything, including rust, scale, oil films, paint, and welding marks. Live demonstrations will be held, so please come and visit.

Exhibitor: KEYTEC Infrastructure Inspection, Maintenance & Renewal Exhibition / Booth No.: 3-N04 https://www.key-t.co.jp/ At this exhibition, we will propose exploration technologies that visualize rebar, voids, and buried objects inside concrete with high precision, focusing on the latest high-performance ground penetrating radar "Flex Series." Additionally, we will demonstrate the "SPIRADAR," a suction-type wall and ceiling crawling robot that improves the efficiency of inspection work in high places, narrow spaces, and hazardous areas that are difficult for people to access.
