Within the framework of the "Daimaruyu Zero Carbon School" promoted by the Daimaruyu Environmental Coexistence Town Development Promotion Association (Ecozzeria Association), the "Daimaruyu Zero Carbon School: Regeneration Study Group Starting from Daimaruyu" (hereinafter referred to as this Study Group) is launched. It is a platform for implementing regeneration into corporate management, originating from the Daimaruyu area, the center of the Japanese economy.
This Study Group was realized through collaboration between the One Generation General Incorporated Association (Representative Director: Yuko Ayukawa), which launched the Japanese publication project for Paul Hawken's "Drawdown" and "Regeneration" and has been communicating the concept of regeneration to Japan, the Ecozzeria Association, and steering members who share the same aspirations.
As a kickoff, a continuous course consisting of 3 sessions will be held starting in May 2026, primarily targeting corporate executives and human resources managers.
Background of the Study Group's Launch and Course Concept
Approximately 5,000 companies are based in the Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho (Daimaruyu) area, where about 350,000 people work daily. As global challenges such as climate change intensify, the natural capital, human capital, and social capital that serve as the survival foundation for companies are rapidly being compromised. Underlying this is the structural issue that the "fundamental meaning of working" and the "connection with nature and society" are becoming diluted amidst the pursuit of efficiency and short-term results.
"Regeneration" goes beyond mere environmental consideration or CO2 reduction; it means placing "life" at the center of all decision-making, recovering and re-nurturing the damaged connections between nature and society. Based on the philosophy of Paul Hawken (Founder of Project Drawdown and Project Regeneration), this Study Group will map out a path from Daimaruyu to transform environmental and social initiatives from "costs" into "unique advantages."
This course has set "Engagement" as its theme for its "first step." Through all three sessions, it aims to help participants deepen the following three convictions:
"We must change" ── Scientific inevitability
"If we do this, we can change" ── Structural feasibility
"Changing itself is value creation" ── Economic rationality
