Launch of Area Management Academy: Kick-off and Information Session on July 29

Sotonoba General Incorporated Association, in a joint venture with Area Management Lab General Incorporated Association and Hanasaka-jii-sans Co., Ltd., is launching the 'Area Management Academy,' an implementation program designed to fully leverage existing area management systems such as the 'public-private partnership urban development system.'

This academy is a practical training program for area management organizations, area platform organizations, Urban Renaissance Promotion Corporations, municipal employees, and practitioners and researchers interested in public-private partnership for urban development. The curriculum is designed in a step-by-step format, covering everything from basic knowledge of public-private partnerships to on-the-ground system operation, organizational management, and concrete business case studies. By providing a comprehensive package from basic courses to workshops and follow-ups, it aims to cultivate specialized professionals who can directly implement area management in their communities.

A kick-off and information session for the academy will be held in a hybrid format (in-person and online) on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 3:00 PM. We encourage all those aiming for the next step in public-private partnership urban development and area management to attend.

A survey regarding expectations for the academy and challenges in area management is also being conducted. All respondents will receive access to the event's archive video at a later date.

**Program**
The session will feature introductory talks, including an explanation of area management systems and trends based on the revised Act on Special Measures concerning Urban Renaissance (by Junhwan Song), a case study of initiatives in Machida City (by Fujito Suzuki), and perspectives on solving on-site challenges (by Ruigi Izumiyama).

This will be followed by a cross-talk session with all speakers, discussing themes such as 'What's next after becoming an Urban Renaissance Promotion Corporation?' and 'Are we successfully turning public space utilization into profitable businesses?'

The event will conclude with an overview of the academy's curriculum, followed by a networking session at the same venue.
