COP30 Report Session: Questioning the Future from the Amazon Forest ~Indigenous Wisdom and Climate Justice~ Latest Report Based on Local Coverage in Brazil [May 30 (Sat) Osaka & Zoom Event]

We would like to announce a study session event to be held on Saturday, May 30th, in a hybrid format (Osaka venue / online). What were the achievements of COP30 (United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties) held in Brazil in 2025? What kind of voices did the indigenous people of the Amazon raise there? This time, we welcome Satomi Shimogo, a journalist who has been covering popular movements and indigenous peoples in Brazil for many years. While the world is undergoing major changes, including the situation in Iran, environmental problems remain urgent, and we cannot leave any more burdens to future generations. From the perspective of the "Rights of Nature" and "Climate Justice" of indigenous peoples resisting large-scale development, we want to take this opportunity to think together about what actions we can take from now on.

Satomi Shimogo (Journalist)
Continues to cover popular movements in Brazil, with a focus on favelas (slums) in Rio de Janeiro and indigenous territories in the Amazon. Her books include "125 Proposals for the Future of the Earth" (Mainichi Shimbun), "Let's Think About Peace" (Akane Shobo), and co-authored works such as "Forest of Creation and Resistance: Amazon" (Gendai Kikaku Shitsu), "COVID-19 Crisis and Future Choices" (Commons), and "Brazilian Social Thought" (Gendai Kikaku Shitsu).
