High School Team 'Fukamiiko' from Matsumoto Starts Crowdfunding Challenge!

'Fukamiiko' assisted in creating prototype products at the smokehouse KUNMARU's factory. (May 17, 2026)

On June 15, 2026 (Monday), Matsumoto Lab. (Headquarters: 22-28-22 Asama Onsen 1-chome, Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, Representative Director: Shibuya Tou), in collaboration with the high school team 'Fukamiiko' from Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, will start crowdfunding to develop and promote original 'Smoked Miso' and 'Buckwheat Husk Smoked Coffee.' This project, titled 'The Challenge of Matsumoto High School Team 'Fukamiiko'! Let's Make 'Smoked Miso' & 'Buckwheat Husk Smoked Coffee'!', will run until August 31, 2026 (Monday), with a target amount of 800,000 yen.

Background of the Project

This project was initiated by four high school students who gathered with the idea of 'creating souvenirs that are truly Matsumoto-like' at the 'Matsumoto AI Camp' hosted by Matsumoto City.

・Shinda Ryuunosuke (2nd year, Matsumoto Fushimi High School) ・Shiraitori Kana (2nd year, Matsumoto Kenoka High School) ・Song Yusa (2nd year, Matsumoto Kenoka High School) ・Kobayashi Takuya (3rd year, Matsumoto Misuke High School)

I joined as a mentor, and we started with the vice president of the local department store 'Inoue Department Store' as an advisor.

Project Overview

The most distinctive feature of this project is its collaboration with local businesses in Matsumoto City. Together with the supportive businesses, we will proceed with the development of two products.

1. Smoked Miso Dip

・Jotakichi Miso Corporation: Provision of the base miso and product processing ・Smokehouse KUNMARU: Product planning and production of smoked miso ・Daitoku Paper Trading Co., Ltd.: Product label design and production

2. Buckwheat Husk Smoked Coffee

・Alps Coffee Lab. Inc.: Provision of the base coffee beans and product processing ・Smokehouse KUNMARU: Product planning and production of buckwheat husk smoked coffee ・Kamakuraya Co., Ltd.: Provision of buckwheat husks ・Daitoku Paper Trading Co., Ltd.: Product label design and production

Project Value

[Smoked Miso] By smoking miso, it gains a deeper flavor and has the potential to bring out the appeal of Matsumoto's food, such as Matsumoto vegetables, milk bread, and oyaki. Please check out the tasting event details introduced in the project.

[Buckwheat Husk Smoked Coffee] By connecting 'buckwheat husks,' a material unique to Shinano, and 'coffee' through the technique of 'smoking,' we have opened up the possibility of a flavorful coffee unique to Matsumoto. We believe we have also proposed one form of upcycling buckwheat husks.

[Connection with Local Businesses] The exploration activities of high school students have connected local businesses and created a 'ripple effect,' demonstrating a model case for regional revitalization.

We will continue this 'ripple effect' with all stakeholders to make it even bigger.

Crowdfunding Returns

We have prepared the following five themes of returns for supporters.

① Only in Matsumoto: Such as the 'Smoked Miso' and 'Buckwheat Husk Smoked Coffee' being developed this time ② Special Experience in Matsumoto: Providing unique experiences such as smoked experiences that cannot be had elsewhere ③ Fukamiiko Goods: Original seals and other returns unique to high school students ④ Healing from Matsumoto: Healing goods from Matsumoto ⑤ With Gratitude: Message cards with heartfelt messages

Project's Future Development (Next Step)

✔︎ We will brush up on the products based on opinions from various events.

✔︎ We will create assortment gifts for the 150th anniversary event of Matsumoto Fushimi High School in October.

✔︎ We will also consider advertising using SNS, EC sites, and sales at physical stores for continuous sales.
