Watami Organic Land Co., Ltd. (Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture; hereinafter “Watami Organic Land”), a subsidiary of Watami Co., Ltd. (Ota-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter “Watami”), participated in the “Kizuna Day Commemorative Exchange Event” held by Nagoya City and Rikuzentakata City in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, on March 20.

Following the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, March 23 was designated as “Kizuna Day” (Bond Day) to mark the date when Nagoya City first dispatched staff to Rikuzentakata City, and various events are held annually. This event aims to widely promote the friendly relationship between the two cities, allow the citizens of Nagoya to experience the charms of Rikuzentakata City, and contribute to raising disaster prevention awareness.

On the day of the event, within the Rikuzentakata City product exhibition, we sold event-exclusive hamburgers made with shiitake mushrooms and seaweed from Rikuzentakata, sharing the appeal of the city’s rich land and sea bounty with visitors. The prepared hamburgers were well-received and sold out completely.

Watami Organic Land will continue to actively participate in events both inside and outside the city to promote the charms of Rikuzentakata City and Iwate Prefecture. We remain committed to contributing to the reconstruction of disaster-stricken areas and regional revitalization.

About the agricultural theme park “Rikuzentakata Watami Organic Land” “Rikuzentakata Watami Organic Land” is an agricultural theme park themed around an organic and recycling-oriented society, which opened in Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture, on April 29, 2021. In cooperation with Rikuzentakata City, we plan to expand various facilities over the next 20 years on a vast site of approximately 23 hectares (equivalent to five Tokyo Domes), including farms, ranches, an outdoor amphitheater, and power generation facilities. By producing agricultural products, creating processed goods from them, and handling sales, we are embodying a circular sixth-sector industrial model that utilizes renewable energy, which the Watami Group promotes.
