Digital Health Business Moves to the Next Stage with Integration of Vital Data and Dietary Data

Life Log Technology Inc. (Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Shigeyuki Tanahashi, hereinafter referred to as the Company), which develops and provides the diet, exercise, and weight management application "Calomile," has decided to join the Omron Healthcare Group (Headquarters: Mukō, Kyoto Prefecture, Representative Director and President: Aruku Okada, hereinafter referred to as Omron Healthcare) on the occasion of its 10th anniversary in February this year. All shareholders of the Company have entered into a share transfer agreement with Omron Healthcare, and the Company will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Omron Healthcare.

The Company positions this group entry as "the second founding of the Company" and will accelerate further business growth by contributing to the value creation of Omron Healthcare's digital health business, a key business in the 2nd stage of its medium-to-long-term management strategy, Shaping the Future 2030, by combining the strengths of both companies and integrating vital data and dietary nutrition data with other life log data.

Since its founding in 2016, the Company has been providing the health management app "Calomile," which is equipped with AI technology that automatically analyzes calories and 28 types of nutrients from photos of meals. In addition to the smartphone app for individuals, "Calomile" also provides services for companies and facilities by expanding functions using digital technology, and is currently used by more than 6.7 million users in Japan. Furthermore, the more than 1.7 billion meal data accumulated so far is not only used for feedback to support users' daily health management but is also utilized in various fields such as dietary guidance at medical institutions, research at universities, product development and marketing strategy planning by companies.

Omron Healthcare has been providing the smartphone health management app "OMRON Connect" since 2016. You can transfer vital data measured with the company's communication-equipped devices such as blood pressure monitors and body composition monitors to your smartphone and check them in graphs and lists. It also includes app menus such as "Simple Blood Pressure Diary" and "Morning and Evening Diet" for specific purposes. Currently, OMRON Connect is used in 137 countries and regions including Japan, with a total of 18 million downloads. In recent years, the company has also been working on the global expansion of remote patient monitoring services that connect patients and doctors to share vital data. By analyzing the vital data recorded daily from the perspective of medical professionals, it is possible to detect changes that are often overlooked at an early stage and link them to the prevention of severe symptoms.

In 2023, the Company entered into a business alliance agreement with Omron Healthcare and has been working on various activities aimed at creating a mechanism for preventive medicine by combining vital data and life log data obtained through Omron Healthcare's devices and both companies' apps.

Since 2025, the Company has been working more closely than ever before, exploring opportunities and methods for further value creation in the digital health business through collaboration, such as jointly developing functions and providing them in beta on the "Calomile" app by combining the organizational strengths of both companies.

Through this group entry, the Company will promote the construction of a new digital health platform by combining the service group that covers the collection and utilization of vast life log data including meals, the development capabilities that safely and flexibly utilize cutting-edge AI, and the devices and health management services specialized in medical settings with high measurement accuracy that Omron Healthcare possesses.

By maximizing the synergy of both companies, we will continue to contribute to the creation of a world where users and partner companies can easily and simply work to make their healthy life span thicker and longer.

Omron Healthcare aims to realize "Zero Incidents of Brain and Cardiovascular Diseases" through the development and provision of services for home medical devices such as blood pressure monitors. In recent years, we have been working on the global deployment of remote patient monitoring services that allow patients to share vital data recorded at home with doctors, aiming for early detection and prevention of severe symptoms of high-risk cardiovascular diseases such as atrial fibrillation. This complete subsidiary is an important step in making digital health a part of daily life and growing the business.

By combining LLT's dietary and nutritional data and AI technology development know-how with our devices and accumulated vital data, we will accelerate the speed of creating new healthcare services. Calomile was born from the desire to "create a comprehensive nutrition database that covers even restaurant menus," which I had when I suffered from kidney disease 10 years ago. Together with my co-founder, Hirohiro Awan, we have continued to refine the service based on "data and AI" in response to changes in social conditions and technological advancements.

Now that we have entered an era where individuals can skillfully use AI in their daily lives, further growth is expected in the domestic digital health market.
