Survey Reveals Growing Trend in Using 3D Simulation to Prevent Home Building Mistakes, with Strong Demand for Sunlight Verification

(Headquarters: Osaka, Japan; CEO: Yoshiaki Imachi), a company advocating for the everyday use of 3D, VR, and metaverse technologies in architectural, interior, and equipment proposals, conducted a user survey regarding the satisfaction and actual usage among customers who purchased the '3D My Home Designer 14' home design software for prospective builders.

The survey highlighted a strong need among home builders for 'sunlight simulation.' Sunlight is a crucial factor affecting daily comfort, such as the drying of laundry during the rainy season, room temperature in summer, indoor brightness, and warmth in winter.

Meanwhile, the Japan Meteorological Agency announced on April 17 that it would refer to days with maximum temperatures of 40°C or higher as 'extreme heat days,' and some regions already recorded 'midsummer days' exceeding 30°C in May. With lifestyle planning needing to account for extreme heat again in 2026, incorporating heatwave countermeasures into home construction has become essential for comfortable living and preventing heatstroke.

In this survey, which received responses from 118 home builders nationwide, 33% utilized 3D My Home Designer 14 for verifying sunlight. User feedback included comments such as, 'I was able to check the differences in sunlight by season and time of day,' 'It was great to verify sunlight conditions that weren't visible with free tools,' and 'I could share the positional relationship with neighboring houses and the temporal changes in sunlight with my family.'

Furthermore, all home builders who used the software for sunlight simulation reported being either 'Satisfied' or 'Very Satisfied.'
Megasoft analyzes that the ability to pre-visualize leveraging unique 3D features contributed to the high satisfaction and anxiety reduction.

The top reason for purchasing the software (multiple answers allowed) was 'to consider floor plans and layouts myself' (81%), followed by 'because 2D drawings alone don't give a clear image of completion' (46%), and 'feeling limited by free tools' (36%). This clearly shows a growing awareness among home builders to actively participate in the design process.
