Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto (Location: Myohoin Maegawa-cho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto; General Manager: Fanny Guibouret) will refresh the concept of its third-floor "The Lounge & Bar" into a sophisticated "Izakaya" as part of its initiatives leading up to the hotel's 10th anniversary. The venue will reopen under the new name "SEY" on Wednesday, April 1st.

In line with the hotel's 10th anniversary in October 2026, the restaurant is undergoing a rebranding. The former "The Lounge & Bar" will be renamed "SEY," offering a new dining experience featuring signature cocktails infused with the essence of Kyoto, alongside bar food that adds a twist to familiar Izakaya flavors.

"SEY": A Place to Feel the Connection to Kyoto's Seasons and Culture The name "SEY" embodies the pristine beauty and original landscape of Kyoto, a city nurtured by "clear flowing water" since ancient times, including the Kamo River, which brings comfort and color to the lives of both tourists and locals. Through carefully selected local sake and ingredients curated by our bartenders and chefs, we have crafted an experience that allows guests to feel a deeper connection to Kyoto than ever before.

A Unique Cocktail Bar Experience in an Extraordinary Space Overlooking the 800-Year-Old "Shakusuien" Garden Shakusuien, the hotel's iconic pond garden, is a historic site mentioned in The Tale of the Heike. The water surface, reflecting the expressions of the four seasons, accentuates the world of "SEY." Guests can enjoy a special moment, surrendering themselves to the slowly flowing time, far away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Signature Cocktails Reflecting Kyoto's Climate, Led by Bartender Ogawa FSK75: A Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto-style take on the "French 75," based on Roku Gin. It is finished by pouring sparkling sake over a rose-shaped sorbet made with red shiso from Ohara, Kyoto. The acidity of sudachi citrus provides a refreshing accent to this cocktail.

The Monaka: A cocktail inspired by the Japanese confection "monaka," evoking a sense of Japan. It pairs white vodka with "Tamagawa" sake from the Kinoshita Brewery in Kyotango. It is garnished with a monaka shell topped with white bean paste that carries a gentle scent of cherry blossoms. We invite you to try this drink as if you were enjoying cherry blossom viewing in Kyoto.

Oyasumi: A dessert cocktail using Okinawan rum. It features a syrup made with generous amounts of black sesame, perfectly matched with the mellowness of egg white and the tropical aroma of mango, creating a flavor profile perfect for ending the day. You can enjoy a well-balanced flavor along with the crunchy texture of toasted brown sugar.

In addition, we offer five signature cocktails, including "Silent Garden," featuring the smoky finish of Hakushu whisky, and "Smoky Old Fashioned," a classic cocktail arranged with Kyoto-style sansho pepper, delivering a new cocktail experience like no other. (Signature cocktails: 3,800 yen each)

Bar Food Elevating Familiar Izakaya Classics with Hotel-Made Sophistication We offer bar food that expresses classic "Izakaya menu items" known to everyone, infused with the sophistication and playfulness characteristic of Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto, combined with Kyoto's culture.

The "Wagyu Katsu Sandwich" (7,900 yen), featuring 200 grams of thick-cut Wagyu beef carefully grilled and sandwiched between light, airy milk bread, is one of our signature foods that we highly recommend. With every bite, the juicy and delicate umami unique to Wagyu spreads in your mouth, offering a simple yet impactful flavor. This "Wagyu Katsu Sandwich," unique to Kyoto where beef culture is widely celebrated, is the chef's top recommendation.
