Volkswagen Launches Limited Edition "Golf R Black Edition II"

Volkswagen has launched the "Golf R Black Edition II," a limited edition model with only 500 units available nationwide. This is the second iteration, following the 403-unit limited model released in 2025.

The new model expands the color options to two, introducing the new "Dolphin Grey Metallic" for the first time on an R model, alongside "Lapis Blue."

Featuring a black-themed exclusive exterior, a large rear spoiler, and an Akrapovič titanium exhaust system, it enhances presence, driving performance, and the exhilaration generated by its sound.

The standard Performance Package boosts the top speed to 270 km/h and adds Drift/Special modes.

Despite the inclusion of a microfleece steering wheel, a first for R models, the vehicle's base price remains the same as the previous generation model.

Volkswagen Japan (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, Brand Director: Martin Sager) announced the "Golf R Black Edition II," the second limited edition model following the highly acclaimed "Golf R Black Edition" introduced in 2025 as a 403-unit limited run. Sales commence today at all authorized Volkswagen dealerships nationwide (limited to 500 units).

The "Golf R Black Edition II" introduces "Dolphin Grey Metallic" as an exclusive body color, a first for an R model. This dark grey was the most requested color in a survey conducted among participants of last year's "Thrilling R" event, and its introduction is a direct response to that feedback.

Available in two colors, including the R-exclusive "Lapis Blue Metallic," the new model further accentuates the sporty individuality unique to R models.

The exterior features blacked-out mirror housings, headlights, brake calipers, front/rear emblems, and lightweight forged "Warmenau" wheels, giving the car a sharper and more refined appearance.

Furthermore, it is equipped with a large black two-tone rear spoiler that generates greater downforce than the standard Golf R, improving stability at high speeds and cornering performance.

The rear is fitted with the Akrapovič titanium exhaust system, a hallmark of high-performance models. The use of lightweight titanium contributes to overall vehicle weight reduction, while the sporty exhaust sound clearly changes with throttle input, further enhancing the exhilarating driving experience unique to R models.

Additionally, the Performance Package is standard, increasing the top speed by 20 km/h to 270 km/h and adding "Drift" and "Special" modes to the driving profiles. These features allow drivers to maximize the R model's high performance according to the driving situation.

The interior features carbon decorative panels, creating a sporty yet premium space.

Moreover, a new multi-function steering wheel with a microfleece finish, another first for R models, enhances control during sporty driving with its premium feel and high grip performance. Despite these added features, the vehicle's base price remains the same as the previous "Golf R Black Edition," making this limited edition even more valuable.
