PHILADELPHIA, PA (June 30, 2026) – Philadelphia, the birthplace of America, will be the epicenter of the nation's 250th anniversary celebrations in 2026, marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This historic city, which will host numerous world-class major events, including sporting events, and is the first city in the United States to be designated a "UNESCO World Heritage City" with 67 National Historic Landmarks, continues to play a central role in America's identity as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary.
Celebrating America's 250th Anniversary, Philadelphia Style
The Museum of the American Revolution, the National Constitution Center, and the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History are currently hosting new special exhibitions focused on America's 250th anniversary. On July 3rd, Pope Leo XIV, the first American-born Pope in the history of the Roman Catholic Church, will visit Philadelphia, home to his alma mater, Villanova University, and will be honored with the Liberty Medal on stage. The Liberty Medal is awarded annually by the National Constitution Center to individuals who have demonstrated courage and conviction in defending liberty and spreading its benefits to people around the world.
The following day, July 4th, the Benjamin Franklin Parkway will be the stage for the grand finale event, the "July 4th Party on the Parkway," where the celebratory mood will reach its peak with a large-scale free concert and a spectacular fireworks display. These events celebrate Philadelphia's pivotal role in the nation's founding history and offer a chance to experience the city's unique passion for arts and culture and its festive spirit.

Major Sporting Events to Further Energize the Birthplace of the Nation
Most recently, from May 11th to 17th of this year, the PGA Championship, one of the four major championships in men's professional golf, was held. Approximately 150 top-tier players from around the world gathered at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, near downtown Philadelphia, to compete for glory. Thousands of spectators filled the venue, cheering for notable players including Japan's Hideki Matsuyama and Ryo Hisatsune.
Philadelphia has also been selected as one of the North American host cities for the ongoing FIFA World Cup 26TM, with a total of six matches being held at Lincoln Financial Field (which will be renamed "Philadelphia Stadium" during the tournament). The Philadelphia leg of the tournament will conclude with a Round of 16 match on Independence Day, July 4th. Let's get excited at the "Philadelphia FIFA Fan Festival" during the tournament. It will be held daily for 39 days throughout the tournament with free admission. It is also easily accessible from Center City by foot, bicycle, the Phlash bus, and public transportation.
Furthermore, the 2026 MLB All-Star Game will bring Major League Baseball's brightest stars to Philadelphia. The 96th "Midsummer Classic" will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, further igniting Philadelphia's sports culture in 2026.
A City Where You Can Experience the History of America's Founding
With numerous tourist attractions that tell the story of America's journey, Philadelphia can be simply described as a place where "no other city allows you to experience the history of America's founding so profoundly." For travelers interested in American history, the area known as "America's most historic square mile" is a must-see. In the historic district of Old City, you can walk the streets where the Founding Fathers actually walked and visit the buildings they used.

Nearby is Independence Hall, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were signed. Furthermore, at Independence Mall, you can see the Liberty Bell, globally recognized as a symbol of freedom.
A Cultural City Adorned with Art Throughout
In Philadelphia, you can encounter art everywhere you go. While known for the "LOVE" sculpture and the "Rocky" statue, its charm extends far beyond that. A deep love for art permeates the city, creating a space that feels like an open-air gallery. Over 4,000 murals are scattered throughout the city, captivating visitors.
