Nipper Booth at 'Shibuya Otonari Sunday' Concludes with Great Success

Victor Entertainment Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya, Tokyo; President & CEO: Akira Ono) participated in the 'Shibuya Otonari Sunday' event held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, by exhibiting the 'Nipper Booth'—introducing the charm of Nipper, the beloved dog that symbolizes the Victor brand—and concluded the event with great success.

Since fiscal year 2017, Shibuya Ward has been hosting 'Shibuya Otonari Sunday' to address challenges faced by neighborhood associations in building and maintaining local communities in urban areas, as well as to revitalize community engagement.

The event aims to create opportunities across the ward for residents to become acquainted with people they don’t usually interact with, using this day as a starting point to foster ongoing exchanges within the Shibuya community. The first Sunday of every June is designated as a citywide simultaneous event day, with various activities held throughout the ward.

Our company, in alignment with this mission, participated in the 'Otonari Sunday' event in the Ohyada area through the 'Nipper Booth,' engaging with people who live, work, study, and visit Shibuya Ward.

This year’s 'Nipper Booth' featured a 'Rock-Paper-Scissors Challenge,' where participants who won three consecutive rounds against staff received Nipper merchandise as a prize. Participation was free upon following the official Nipper social media accounts, making it an accessible and enjoyable event that attracted many visitors.

In addition, we sold Nipper merchandise and distributed flyers and pocket tissues introducing Nipper’s story, creating a multifaceted experience that effectively conveyed the charm of Nipper.

Moving forward, we will continue to actively participate in initiatives that strengthen our connection with local communities, alongside our Nipper branding efforts.

[Origin of the Victor Logo – About Nipper]

The original painting of the Victor logo was created in 1889 by British artist Francis Barraud. Francis’s brother, Mark H. Barraud, lovingly raised a highly intelligent Fox Terrier named 'Nipper.' After Mark’s passing, Francis took in Nipper along with his nephew and raised him. When Francis played a recording of his late brother’s voice from a phonograph at home, Nipper curiously tilted his head and listened intently, as if recognizing his beloved owner’s voice. Deeply moved by this scene, Francis immediately painted the image. The phonograph in the original painting was a cylinder-type capable of recording and playback, but was later changed to a disc-type in the final version. The painting was titled 'His Master’s Voice.'

The touching image of Nipper listening to his late master’s voice deeply moved Emile Berliner, the inventor of the disc phonograph, who registered the painting as a trademark in 1900. Since then, this historic logo has been widely trusted and cherished as a symbol of superior technology and quality.
