Pal System Saitama Consumers’ Co-operative Union, headquartered in Warabi, Saitama Prefecture and chaired by Yoshiko Nishiuchi, will hold a completion and opening ceremony for its newly built Omiya Center in Omiya Ward, Saitama City, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26. The new center incorporates Saitama-grown timber, barrier-free design, and greenery covering 47% of the site, presenting a facility designed with consideration for both people and the environment. The completion ceremony will be conducted by Shimamura Kogyo Co., Ltd., the construction company responsible for the center. A priest from Miyahara Shrine will be invited to pray for the safety of employees working at the facility. At the opening ceremony, Pal System Saitama Chair Yoshiko Nishiuchi will express gratitude to MAJIMA First-Class Architect Office, which handled design supervision, Shimamura Kogyo, and other related parties. The ceremony will include a ribbon cutting and a tree-planting event on the premises. The planted tree will be a sapling descended from an atomic-bombed tree provided by Hiroshima Prefecture, serving as a symbol to preserve the memory of the atomic bombing 81 years ago and to continue wishing for peace together with local residents. After the relocation to the new center, deliveries will begin on Monday, June 29, serving approximately 20,000 registered households in parts of Saitama City. The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Omiya Center, 2-623-1 Horinouchicho, Omiya Ward, Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture. Participants will include construction-related companies, group co-ops, and contracted delivery partners. The Omiya Center consists of a steel-framed, single-story warehouse with a building area of 1,693.87 square meters and total floor area of 1,793.60 square meters, and a steel-framed, two-story office building with a building area of 411.78 square meters and total floor area of 761.56 square meters. Design supervision was handled by MAJIMA First-Class Architect Office, and construction by Shimamura Kogyo Co., Ltd. In line with Saitama Prefecture’s basic policy for the conservation, utilization, and creation of the Minuma Tambo green area, the center has introduced measures such as rooftop greening, making more than 47% of the site green space. Dedicated EV charging spaces have also been installed with future expansion of electric vehicle use in mind. The facility uses barrier-free features such as step-free sliding doors. Saitama-grown timber is used for the spiral staircase in the office building, creating a workplace environment with the warmth of wood. The center will also launch a new Station Pal service, allowing users to pick up home-delivery products at the distribution center to improve convenience.
