5th Generation 'Palm-Sized' Pen Jacket Compatible with Commercial Refills

Deff Corporation (President: Toru Araki, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) will begin pre-sales of the 'Extra Short Design Collection' pen jacket series, compatible with commercial D1 (ISO) or D/4C (JIS) standard refills, on May 29, 2026, via the Deff DIRECT STORE, followed by a sequential rollout to retailers. This product is the 5th entry in the 'REFILL PEN JACKET' series, which allows users to incorporate their preferred ballpoint pen refills. Following a successful pre-launch on Makuake, the series has been expanded with lightweight, high-design models using natural wood and carbon fiber, featuring a unique structure that balances portability and writing comfort. The product has received the 'iF Design Award 2026,' one of the world's three major design awards, in recognition of its innovative design and functionality. The 'Extra Short Design Collection' is a palm-sized pen jacket with a total length of approximately 75mm when stored. Its structure, where the cap doubles as the body, allows the pen to be stored compactly for portability, while attaching the cap to the rear during use extends it to a comfortable 125mm for writing. It is limited to D1 (ISO) or D/4C (JIS) standard refills, which are easily accessible globally. Compatible with approximately 100 types of refills from 18 companies, it allows users to upgrade their exterior to a high-quality pen while retaining their favorite writing feel. The 5th generation includes natural wood models, which were popular in the 2nd generation, and introduces carbon fiber models for the first time in the series. The natural wood models come in Ebony and Rosewood, while the carbon models are available in forged carbon with gloss or matte finishes. The main parts feature SUS304 stainless steel for the grip, combined with natural wood or carbon fiber bodies/caps to balance material texture with practicality.
