Telenet's SearchMe Drifting Search Device Research Adopted by Tokyo Fire Department's "INNOVATION PROJECT Collaborative Research and Development Type"

Telenet Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") is pleased to announce that its research proposal, "Development of a Drifting Search Device – Accelerating Initial Response by Acquiring Location Information Using Wireless Communication Technology –" has been adopted by the Tokyo Fire Department's "INNOVATION PROJECT Collaborative Research and Development Type (Free of Charge)" on July 2, Reiwa 8 (2026).

The "Tokyo Fire Department INNOVATION PROJECT Collaborative Research and Development Type" is a project that aims to solve the Tokyo Fire Department's challenges through joint research with private companies and other organizations, utilizing the research outcomes obtained.

In the event of an offshore crash of a helicopter or a mountain accident, the ability to identify the location of individuals who have separated from the aircraft at a very early stage is directly linked to an improvement in survival rates. This adopted research will verify the location identification technology utilizing the Company's wireless search tool "SearchMe," and aims to establish a rapid search method in environments where visual observation is difficult by enabling "the identification of the location of each individual passenger," which is currently difficult with existing emergency locator transmitters (ELTs), thereby dramatically evolving the initial response of firefighting and rescue operations.

"SearchMe" operates on a proprietary frequency even in areas with no mobile coverage or where GPS information cannot be obtained. It can identify a target up to 1-5 km away in approximately 6 seconds using radio waves, and has a waterproof depth of 40 meters (maximum 5 atmospheres) and an operating time of up to 3 months. Going forward, we will also conduct research on a successor model capable of searching wider areas.

Following the adoption of this proposal, the Company will promote joint research with a view to further improving the functionality of "SearchMe," and contribute to solving social issues through early response to damage and disaster mitigation.
