Enterprise AI is evolving beyond chat assistants to autonomous agents that launch tools, query data, and execute workflows. Traditional security measures are insufficient to address these changes. The focus of security is shifting from merely "who has access" to "what tasks AI is permitted to perform." Therefore, organizations need to establish appropriate guardrails during runtime, in production environments, and where agents interact, as AI risks materialize.
David Haber, VP of AI Security at Check Point, stated:
"A new architecture for agent-based security requires three layers: a control plane to manage identities and connections, a governance layer to enforce policies, and a runtime intelligence layer to provide behavior-based protection. Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise agent platform provides the control plane. Check Point will provide the remaining two layers, controlling which agents, tools, and connections are permitted, while inspecting all actions at runtime to determine whether processing should continue. This is because in agent-based systems, merely having access does not necessarily guarantee appropriate outcomes."
This integration enables a three-layered agent security approach:
Complete Visibility of the Agent Environment: Automatically creates an inventory of all agents deployed across the Google Cloud environment, including their components, tools, and Google Cloud Model Context Protocol (MCP) server connections.
Pre-deployment Control Application: Allows security teams to define and apply policies. This includes allow/deny lists for MCP servers, tools, and skills, agent posture policies to detect or block risky configurations, and centralized policy management across the entire agent environment.
Runtime Guardrails in Production: Integrates inline with Agent Gateway to provide real-time, context-aware protection. This includes detecting and blocking prompt injection attacks against agent inputs, tool responses, and multi-turn interactions, preventing sensitive data leakage through agent responses or tool execution, and pre-screening agent tool invocations.
Vineet Bhan, Director of Security and Identity Partnerships at Google, commented:
"Google Cloud is committed to providing the industry's most open cloud, helping customers accelerate their digital transformation. This new partnership enables Check Point to leverage Google Cloud's infrastructure for new capabilities. This will help customers improve operational efficiency and create business value."
The integrated features of Check Point's AI Defense Plane and Google Cloud Agent Gateway and Agent Registry are scheduled to be available in late June 2026. Customers interested in early access can register at https://www.checkpoint.com/ai-security/.
