Zscaler Strengthens Strategic Investment in AI Security to Protect Enterprises in the Agent Era

Zscaler, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZS), the provider of a cybersecurity platform for the AI era, today announced two strategic investments to significantly expand its AI security capabilities for enterprises in the age of AI agents. First, Zscaler announced its intent to acquire Symmetry Systems, Inc., a pioneer in identity mapping and data access in AI security. The company combines Zero Trust and access graph technology to map and secure communications between AI agents. Second, Zscaler launched 'Project AI-Guardian,' an expansion of strategic partnerships with leading Global System Integrators (GSIs) including Cognizant, EY, HCLTech, Infosys, TCS, and Wipro, to help enterprises navigate complex, AI-driven environments. As AI adoption accelerates, traditional security models built for human users are not designed for autonomous agents. AI agents use ephemeral identities and inherited permissions to operate autonomously across multiple systems, and their numbers are growing exponentially. This creates significant blind spots regarding which data is being accessed, why, and on whose behalf. Zscaler's two announcements address both sides of this challenge: the technical foundation and the implementation expertise required for enterprises to deploy AI safely and at scale. With the acquisition of Symmetry Systems, Zscaler gains access graph technology. This ingests enterprise-wide access logs covering SaaS applications, public cloud services, data stores, and AI systems, using AI to correlate and visualize which identities are accessing which data and how. Combined with the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange™, this enables new capabilities such as building least-privilege policies for AI, tracking full data lineage, detecting and containing anomalies instantly, and calculating the blast radius if an agent or identity is compromised. The transaction is expected to close soon, subject to customary closing conditions. Through 'Project AI-Guardian,' GSI partners will leverage Zscaler's AI Protect portfolio to build specialized AI discovery and risk mitigation capabilities. This helps organizations discover shadow AI, understand how data and identities relate to AI assets, and identify AI-related risks such as supply chain risks, security posture risks, and sensitive data risks.
