Experience the Starry Sky: "2nd Hoshitsumugi no Yube" Event Held in Samegawa Village, Fukushima Prefecture

Samegawa Village (Higashishirakawa-gun, Fukushima Prefecture) will host the second "Hoshitsumugi no Yube in Samegawa" event, which received high praise after its initial implementation last September, on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

This event is a family-friendly program that combines stargazing with meals featuring local ingredients and craft making. The second iteration aims to further enhance the content, offering an opportunity to experience the charm of Samegawa Village through nature, food, and culture.

■ Purpose of the event

Amid an expected increase in visitors from outside the prefecture and surrounding areas due to the Fukushima DC (Destination Campaign), this event aims to promote the beauty of Samegawa Village's iconic starry sky nationwide.
This second event seeks to create memorable experiences that make visitors want to "visit again" through unique Samegawa Village experiences that integrate nature, food, people, and culture.
We will also create a place for interaction that fosters pride and joy not only for tourists but also for villagers, contributing to the revitalization of the community.

Original Constellation Making Workshop

A workshop will be held where participants can draw their own constellations on a starry sky theme, creating a piece that can be used as a lantern when lit, or a photo frame. The completed work can be taken home as a travel souvenir.

Stargazing Commentary by Astronomy Enthusiasts

Astronomy enthusiasts will explain the charm of constellations and celestial bodies in an easy-to-understand manner for beginners.
Mr. Hideto Yoshida, Specially Appointed Researcher, Graduate School of Science, The University of Tokyo, and members of the Astronomy Enthusiast Club.

Stargazing the Night Sky

Encounter the full starry sky that seems within reach, a sight only possible in Samegawa Village due to its high altitude.
Looking up at the night sky from the observatory hill or open fields, a breathtaking spectacle of stars showering down unfolds.

Storytellers

Samegawa Folk Tale Association
The Samegawa Folk Tale Association will tell folk tales and legends passed down in Samegawa Village. They will deliver a moment to experience the history and culture of Samegawa Village through stories rooted in the region.

Special Menu Featuring Local Ingredients

A limited menu devised by Chef Tsukasa Narita, Executive Chef of Tokyo Eastside Hotel Kaie, using ingredients from Samegawa Village and the surrounding areas, will be offered.

Ishikawa High School Wind Orchestra

The Ishikawa High School Wind Orchestra will perform in a natural setting. The melodies spreading under the night sky will create a magical atmosphere.

A local contribution group formed by volunteers from Samegawa Village.
They will enliven the event on the day.

Yukikun, an earth fairy born from Samegawa Village's rich land, plays a role in promoting the charm of Samegawa Village.

■ Entrusted Business: Initiatives of Senco Creative Management Co., Ltd.

Senco Creative Management Co., Ltd., which operates "Tokyo Eastside Hotel Kaie" in Shiomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo, also provides operational cooperation services leveraging the know-how cultivated through hotel operations.

This project was adopted as a business proposal selected by Samegawa Village through a proposal method, based on a comprehensive cooperation agreement concerning regional revitalization, tourism promotion, and cultural promotion signed with 3 towns and 1 village in Higashishirakawa-gun, Fukushima Prefecture (Tanagura Town, Hanawa Town, Yamatsuri Town, Samegawa Village).

In this event, from planning to operation, they collaborate with local volunteers to build a participatory management system led by villagers. This initiative is promoted not merely as a one-off event, but with a view towards building a foundation that contributes to future tourism promotion and regional revitalization.
