It has newly appeared as a new chronograph model featuring a captivating dark blue dial and a matching ceramic bezel.

A Presence Beyond Boundaries

This model is a new addition to the Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Chronograph lineup announced in 2025. One was a captivating black adorned with rose gold-colored decorations, and the other was a model that gave a sophisticated impression with a dark green dial and bezel, a glossy plasma high-tech ceramic case and bracelet, and stainless steel details.

And the sensual blue tone introduced this time radiates a new charm.

What is particularly striking is its deep hue. Like the color of deep sea water that only brave divers can see, or the dawn sky that evokes the excitement of a new adventure, it is a powerful color that seems to straddle the boundaries of different worlds. The dial exudes a subtle gloss and luxury, and the polished high-tech ceramic bezel conveys outstanding craftsmanship and an elegant presence.

By combining the plasma high-tech ceramic case and bracelet with rose gold details, an extremely sophisticated color combination is born, bringing a dynamic personality to this watch that transcends existing boundaries.

Depending on the scene or attire, it sometimes looks like a sporty watch, and at other times like a stylish piece. And mysteriously, it possesses both charms simultaneously.

A Story of Dedication

So far, we have focused on aesthetics, but let's dig deeper.

This watch is a timepiece equipped with complex mechanisms, designed for heart-pounding activities where precision is essential. The thick hour and minute hands accurately point to the indices, and by applying white Super-LumiNova® to all of them, clear visibility is ensured.

The second hand on the main dial, and the tips of the minute and hour counters of the chronograph are adorned with red, adding a retro touch that symbolizes the design of this type of watch.

The box-shaped sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective coating on both sides, enhancing visibility.

In addition, the chronograph pushers have a solid presence, allowing start/stop/reset operations to be performed reliably and intuitively. The Captain Cook Chronograph High-Tech Ceramic is equipped with the Rado Caliber R801 automatic movement with 37 jewels and a maximum 59-hour power reserve function.

The highly anti-magnetic Nivachron™ hairspring is tested in 5 positions, achieving high precision and reliability.

Excellent Durability

This watch is designed to withstand harsh environments. High-tech ceramic is a material that is harder and more scratch-resistant than steel.

The appearance of plasma is not due to surface finishing, but the color tone exists throughout the material, created by a firing process at 1,450°C. This has realized a beautiful and deep metallic gray with a pearl-like luster.

It is attractive in photos, but the real thing shines even more beautifully. Since it is a watch made for active scenes, it goes without saying that it has a water resistance of 30 bar (300m). And its wearing comfort is also a point worth mentioning. High-tech ceramic is an extremely comfortable material that quickly adapts to the wearer's body temperature, making it feel as if it is a part of the body.

This is created by the combination of matte plasma high-tech ceramic outer links and polished plasma high-tech ceramic middle links. The History of High-Tech Ceramic

High-tech ceramic truly embodies Rado's experience and status as the Master of Materials. This material is not only incredibly durable and scratch-resistant, but also beautiful, lightweight, and has a silky smooth touch. Because it quickly adapts to the wearer's body temperature, it brings a comfort as if it were a part of one's own body. That is also the reason why we say 'Feel it!'.

High-tech ceramic was first introduced by Rado in 1986 after years of research and development.

Extremely strict conditions are required for its manufacture.

The process begins by mixing high-purity zirconium oxide powder of completely uniform particle size with a specially developed plastic carrier medium, and injecting it into a precise mold at a pressure of about 1,000 bar.

After firing the mold, it is cooled, and the plastic carrier agent is chemically dissolved and removed. Then, the ceramic molding is reheated to 1,450°C. Through this precisely controlled sintering process, the powder particles fuse together, creating a density and hardness far exceeding normal ceramics. The resulting material boasts an overwhelming strength of 1,250 Vickers hardness. After that, through machining and finishing with diamond tools, it is ready to be assembled as a Rado timepiece.

Furthermore, Rado's pioneering plasma high-tech ceramic fuses the characteristics of high-tech ceramic with the unique metallic shine of metal without using any metal.

In this unique manufacturing process, carbon is added to the completed white high-tech ceramic parts to give them a metallic luster. The surface can have various finishes such as polished, brushed, and matte, realizing a wide range of expressions. The manufacture of this complex material requires an even more special process in addition to the ingenuity that created high-tech ceramic.
