Glashütte Original Announces the 'Sixties Chronograph Annual Edition'

Glashütte Original presents the purple 'Sixties Chronograph Annual Edition.' The dial features a purple color motif, inspired by the album covers, band names, and legendary song titles of the 1960s. Sophisticated embossing gives it a rich, expressive texture. With the quiet rhythm of the in-house Calibre 39-34, this annual edition, rooted in the 1960s, marks every second of the present.

By subtly incorporating elements of various eras, styles, and materials unique to the 'Sixties Chronograph,' a one-of-a-kind model is created. It proposes a new vintage style with a youthful and individual appearance. For the 2026 Annual Edition, Glashütte Original's dial manufactory created a shimmering purple hue. Each dial represents decades of watchmaking experience, involving dozens of manual steps and immense time.

The base of the purple dial is thin bronze. First, it is embossed for an elegant texture, then cut and drilled. After milling to create the characteristic 'record groove' finish, the parallel lines evoke the look of a vinyl record. The dial is carefully domed and gold-galvanized. Coloring begins here, with transparent purple lacquer applied by hand and fired in a kiln. Unlike standard applied or printed indices, the indices on this dial are hand-engraved into the lacquered surface inside the dome, allowing the bronze base to shine through with warmth. A protective clear lacquer is applied over the entire surface. Numbers and logos are printed and fired multiple times, with artisans finally adding luminous dots to the indices.

This artistic dial is encased in a 42mm polished stainless steel case. The gently domed sapphire crystal is anti-reflective on both sides, enhancing visibility. Gold-plated hands are designed to follow the curve of the glass, preventing distortion, while Super-LumiNova® ensures readability day and night. The grooved crown features the iconic double G logo, which is also visible through the sapphire case back, revealing the skeletonized rotor with a 21K gold oscillating weight. A breathable black synthetic strap completes the casual yet elegant look.

At the heart of the watch, the automatic Calibre 39-34 beats with precision. In addition to hours, minutes, and small seconds, it drives the chronograph stop-seconds and the 30-minute counter at 9 o'clock. Numerous components and finishes, such as the Glashütte stripe finish on the 3/4 plate, the swan-neck fine adjustment, beveled edges, and polished screws, can be admired through the transparent case back.

The purple Sixties Chronograph Annual Edition pays homage to a color that has magically influenced all genres of music for decades. It will be available at Glashütte Original boutiques and authorized retailers worldwide from May 2026.
