Tokyo, April 24, 2026 – To commemorate DNA DAY™ 2026, Genesis Healthcare Co. and GeneLife announced today the launch of the "AGA Monitor Project". This is a research project aimed at understanding the overall picture of the complex combination of multiple genetic and environmental factors involved in Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA), a condition highly requested by customers, and providing a more comprehensive insight into hair loss risk.
Investigating the Causes of AGA and Comprehensive Understanding of Hair Loss using Real-world Data
AGA (Male Pattern Baldness) is a condition seen in many men around the world. Depending on race, there are differences in related genetic groups such as hair thickness, hormone receptor function, and productivity and metabolism required for hair like zinc. Therefore, it is necessary to further explore the impact of individual differences. In the GeneLife "AGA Monitor Project", in addition to DNA analysis, we combine real-world data such as questionnaire responses and hairline images to explore how genetic factors and changes in physical appearance interact.
How to Participate and Project Design
As part of this initiative, selected participants will be provided with a GeneLife AGA Test Kit that analyzes genetic markers related to androgen sensitivity. Participants will take part in this project by answering questionnaires and providing photos of their hairlines. While contributing data to deepen the understanding of hair loss patterns, the genetic test results regarding AGA will be provided to them free of charge.
Participation Opportunity
For a limited time, this project will provide GeneLife AGA Test Kits free of charge to the first 200 applicants. The recruitment of participants will be conducted for 3 months from the start date. All data collected in this project will be anonymized and used solely for the purposes of this research. Research outcomes may be published as academic papers and are expected to contribute to the development of more personalized hair loss countermeasures.
The AGA Monitor Project is an initiative symbolizing our company's advancement in genetic testing services and the strengthening of data utilization in the fields of preventive medicine and wellness. Participation is voluntary and limited to eligible targets. Recruitment will be conducted for 3 months from the launch.
