AMIDA Announces Digitrend OSII Black

THE THREE BROTHERS LLC, which distributes AMIDA watches in Japan, has launched the new AMIDA "Digitrend OSII Black."

This model, which further develops the OS (Open Sapphire) concept while inheriting the legacy of the original Digitrend born in 1976, will be released in a world limited edition of 150 pieces.

The AMIDA-developed jumping hour module is housed in a new black PVD-finished internal structure. Furthermore, by adopting a full sapphire hood that allows light to reach the center of the movement, the brand has achieved its first-ever fully luminous display.

These elements merge to make the "future design" we once dreamed of a reality.

The Designer's Mission - Making the Lost Future a Reality

Matthieu Allègre, co-founder and creative director of AMIDA, does not see the brand as merely a repository of heritage.

For him, AMIDA is a practical project to reclaim the "Lost Future."

"Mid-20th century design movements left us with a standard of boldness. However, their potential was abandoned far too quickly."

"My role is to restart from where AMIDA stopped. I look back not to copy the past, but to resume the work that was interrupted there."

He further states:

"With the OSII Black, we have moved closer to 'Historical Correction.' We are now finally building the machines they dreamed of but could not realize."

Engineering to Evolve the Past

The Digitrend OSII Black embodies the concept of "evolution" in a tangible structure.

Sapphire Hood (Transparent Shield)

Instead of a conventional metal shell, a complex sapphire hood milled from a single block is adopted.

While protecting the movement as a transparent shield, it captures light from all angles into the internal structure.

Internal Framework

With the internal structure becoming visible, design is now required not only on the exterior but also on the interior.

The newly developed DLC-coated 316L stainless steel frame is integrated with the structure of the jumping hour module itself.

Previously hidden functional parts are elevated to design elements, with all internal parts functioning as part of the design.

Fully Luminous Display

For the first time in Digitrend history, the jumping hour display has been made fully luminous.

Through the light captured by the sapphire hood, the BGW9 Super-LumiNova® indices glow vividly in the dark.

Additionally, luminous accents have been added to the internal frame, providing a consistent design experience day and night.

The Digitrend, which used to disappear at night, has now acquired a "Nocturnal Form" that inherits the brand's design language.
