Konica Minolta Planetarium Tokyo (Yurakucho, Tokyo / operated by Konica Minolta Planetarium Co., Ltd. / President & CEO: Yumiko Moto) will host 'Shigeru Mizuki's Yokai Summer Festival: 88 Mysterious Constellations' from Friday, July 17, 2026, to Monday, August 31, 2026.

The popular summer event 'Starlight Summer Festival,' previously enjoyed by over 100,000 visitors, transforms this year through a collaboration with the iconic yokai created by manga artist Shigeru Mizuki.

Online ticket sales will begin simultaneously on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 15:00.

A New Encounter with Shigeru Mizuki's Yokai This Summer

Since 2023, the 'Starlight Summer Festival' has been an annual hit, captivating countless visitors.

This beloved program, which lets guests enjoy a summer festival atmosphere in a cool dome environment, undergoes a bold transformation this year.

The theme: Shigeru Mizuki's yokai.

Characters like 'GeGeGe no Kitaro' are familiar figures in Japanese culture. These humorous and endearing yokai, which blur the line between humans and supernatural beings, will be unleashed across the planetarium's full-dome screen. The 360-degree starry sky within the dome will gradually transform into a world inhabited by yokai.

This summer, a truly immersive entertainment experience—far beyond a typical summer festival—will be born.

Born March 8, 1922. Raised in Sakaiminato, Tottori Prefecture. During the Pacific War, he was deployed to the battlefront at Rabaul, where he lost his left arm in a bombing. After repatriation, he became a kamishibai artist before transitioning to manga.

Major works include 'GeGeGe no Kitaro,' 'Kappaman,' 'Akuma-kun,' and 'Encyclopedia of Japanese Yokai.' Passed away on November 30, 2015.
