Hokkaido's Eastern Region Launches "Kaie Tour," a Private Canoe Tour Operated by a Regional Revitalization Volunteer

Kaie Tour (Bekkai Town, Notsuke District, Hokkaido / Representative: Bettkai Town Regional Revitalization Volunteer, Ittetsu Inaba) has launched its canoe and kayak tours for the 2026 season. We offer a completely private tour experience of the yet-undiscovered nature of Eastern Hokkaido, located between Shiretoko and Kushiro, allowing even beginners to enjoy it with peace of mind. This season, as a monitor period, all courses are available at half the regular price.

Bekkai Town, the top producer of raw milk in Japan, is a quiet town not widely known as a tourist destination, except for the Notsuke Peninsula. However, it boasts unique natural landscapes, including untouched wetlands, rivers with very little flow, and rich lakes inhabited by wild animals. Kaie Tour operates three distinct tours that allow you to experience this nature via canoe or kayak, with no shared rides, in a completely private setting. Each tour takes approximately 2 hours, and all necessary equipment (life jackets, rubber boots, etc.) is available for free rental, so you can participate empty-handed.

Organizer's Message

I am originally from Kanagawa Prefecture and worked as a firefighter for many years. I love nature, and during a trip to Eastern Hokkaido a few years ago, I was deeply moved by the magnificent natural beauty of places like the Notsuke Peninsula. Through a fortunate connection, I was appointed as a Regional Revitalization Volunteer in Bekkai Town. My goal is to create an activity tour that allows everyone to experience this majestic nature and to boost the town's economy through increased tourism demand.
